Serbian minority self-government condemns vandalisation of Serbian cemetery in Budakalász
The Serbian National Minority Self-Government has condemned the vandalisation of graves in a Serbian cemetery in Budakalász, north of Budapest.
The body said in a statement that it considers the offence an attack against all Serbians living in Hungary.
The self-government has called on Hungarian authorities to track down the perpetrators and put them on trial for “attacks against the Serb community in Hungary”.
According to a statement on the website of the Budakalász local council, fifteen graves were damaged in the early hours of last Thursday. Monuments and stone vases were knocked down, crypts opened and their covers smashed. The statement described the attack as the worst the town has ever seen.
