Shocking! Elderly sets himself on fire in Hungarian district office – VIDEOS
On Monday, 31 January, a 74-year-old man from the area of VeszprΓ©m set himself on fire in the government office of VeszprΓ©m county.
According to Veol, a local news site, a large number of ambulance and disaster management vehicles rushed to the scene, where the elderly committed suicide.
VeszprΓ©mkukac wrote that the office building was in the same street as the local fire department, so the first responders arrived at the scene quickly.
On the website of the Hungarian police, the authorities have reported that the 74-year-old man brought with him a liquid substance and used it as a fire accelerant.
According to eyewitnesses, the man poured the liquid on himself and set himself on fire. βIt was horrible to see him burning,β β they said to Veol.
24 inquired about the case from the Hungarian National Directorate General for Disaster Management and the county spokeswoman Henrietta Csondor replied that several pieces of furniture caught fire on the first floor and the smoke spread to the second floor as well.
Fortunately, the fire was extinguished by the local firefighters and disaster management personnel.
Alexandra MΓ‘tΓ©, the spokeswoman of the VeszprΓ©m county police headquarters told Veol, that 37 people had to evacuate the building.
Authorities report that the only victim was the 74-year-old man, who committed suicide. He was burned so badly that he passed away at the scene.
Fortunately, no other person was hurt, at least not physically, but the cost of the material damages is estimated to be high.

It is believed that the man had some grudge or possibly some sort of hardship that led him to choose such a horrible fate.
24 reports that the Police have started an investigation of the case under suspicion of causing danger to the public.
The authorities have provided a video after the fire was extinguished. From the images it is clear that the 74-year-old man used some sort of fire accelerant and that the fire was blazing angrily even though the firefighter arrived at the scene early.
