Speaker of Parliament László Kövér on Thursday received Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, during an official visit to the National Assembly.
According to a statement by Parliament’s press office, Kövér regarded Bolsonaro’s visit to Hungary as a “great honour” and a testament to the strength of bilateral relations. Hungary and Brazil, he added, believed in “a community of values”. This, he said, entailed
“a moral duty to respect God, the home, family and freedom.”
The two officials discussed parliamentary cooperation, as well as economic and trade relations and education and cultural ties, the statement said.
In addition, the Russian-Ukrainian standoff was on the meeting’s agenda. Both agreed that the crisis could only be resolved on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual respect.
Kövér expressed his condolences to the president and the Brazilian people over the recent natural disaster in Brazil which has claimed 104 lives.
