Strand Festival – The best way to finish the summer
The MOL Nagyon Balaton (Much Balaton) programme series closes this summer with the 5th Strand Festival held in its usual spot in Zamárdi between the 23rd and 26th of August. Among others, the organisers will welcome visitors with concerts, open-air cinema, camp fire, lectures, an amusement park and even more. Get ready for the rhythm of Lake Balaton 😉
Fortunately more and more people realise that Lake Balaton is a truly versatile summer destination. You can choose from all types of holidays: you can opt for sporty, relaxing, sightseeing, gastronomic experiences, or combine all of these and visit a festival like Strand, where you can relax in the morning, enjoy different activities in the afternoon and party at night.
The first performer announced by the organisers was John Newman, which was quite a strong start. The Hungarian audience loves the unique voiced singer, who became famous with Rudimental and their song Feel the Love, to then conquer top lists with his ultimate hit song, Love Me Again.
But the organisers didn’t stop there: during the Advent season they announced further concerts by Bastille, Icona Pop, Parov Stelar and Redfoo. Later, You Me at Six and their guitar-centric music was added to the list along with the popular Norwegian DJ-producer, Alan Walker, the always energetic Wilkinson, the many-sided Alle Farben, and the representative of the Swedish house style, Vigiland.
To complete the line-up of the joint festival of Petőfi Radio and VOLT Productions, the most popular Hungarian bands and performers will also entertain the visitors of Strand.
What makes this year’s festival so exciting is the non-musical programs, because the organisers came up with quite cool ones, so that you can get the maximum out of your time spent in Zamárdi.
One of the novelties is the #HelloHungary terrace, where some of the best DJs and bands will take turns. The Diákhitel Café will be the home of interesting talks and conversations. The days will start with yoga and continue with quizzes and lectures, panels on current and relevant topics. There’s also going to be a Strand Adventure, where circle of friends can compete in fun games and races to win valuable prices and VIP tickets for next year’s festival.
You can also spend the evening at the campfire or in the open-air cinema, where two Hungarian movies will be screened every day. Moreover, there’s going to be an amusement park and a side-show. And if you happen to seek cultural experiences, visit the Petőfi Point, where – among others – you can learn about the lifework of János Arany as 2017 marks the Arany memorial year. You’ll also have the chance to create with contemporary artists and take part in a morning workout – at noon. Who needs more?
