Strand Festival: The rhythm of Lake Balaton
Have you got any plans for August 24-27? Don’t worry if the answer is ‘no,’ we got you covered! 😉 So you might have heard about the amazing festivals in Hungary, which are organised around different themes and have something to offer to all tastes for sure. The end of this summer is slowly approaching and it can only mean one thing: Strand Festival and a special taste of our beloved Lake Balaton.
The Strand Festival (strand means beach in Hungarian) is part of the MOL Nagyon Balaton (Much Balaton) programme series, held on the last week of the summer on the Zamárdi public beach. Zamárdi and its beach is a popular destination and the perfect location for the festival.
This is going to be the fourth time that the festival is organised and we must admit that this year the organisers really did themselves justice. The international selection includes top-notch names like the Hurts (UK), Lost Frequencies (B), the energetic Hollywood Undead (USA), Jamie Woon (UK), the Brit Awards winner Tom Odell (UK), the Dutch super star Caro Emerald (NL), Asking Alexandria (UK) and the drum ’n’ bass specialist Chase & Status (UK).
We also have good news for the lovers of Hungarian music, as several special productions will be performed exclusively at Strand Festival. Two of the currently most popular Hungarian bands, Wellhello and Halott Pénz will even have a separate day (Saturday). Another famous Hungarian band, Punnany Massif only accepted a few festival concert requests this year, but one of it will be at Strand. The 25-year-old Quimby will also perform on the main stage, along with further artists.
This year’s festival anthem is the new version, cover of an old-school popular Hungarian song titled Balatoni nyár (Summer at Lake Balaton), which is all about that Balaton feeling. It is performed by the above mentioned Wellhello in collaboration with Pixa and Stereo Palma.
