Strand Festival rocked Lake Balaton

What an amazing way to finish off the summer festival season! Strand Festival ended summer parties properly. It was truly the rhythm of our beloved Lake Balaton, where everybody could find something for their musical taste in a splendid environment. The performers rocked the stage during four summery days (August 24-27) and brought about that real festival feeling.

The Strand Festival (strand means beach in Hungarian) is part of the MOL Nagyon Balaton (Much Balaton) programme series, held on the Zamárdi public beach with the B.my.Lake festival on its side. Zamárdi and its beach is a popular destination and the perfect location for the festival. It is a 20 minute walk from the railway station, which is a good calorie-burner or revitalizer.

The festival itself wasn’t too big, but there was still enough place for the different themed stands, tents and stages. And the best part was that Lake Balaton lied in front of you, you could go in anytime you wanted to enjoy the pleasantly cool water.

The weather was just great, and we probably all know that it can all come down to the weather at festivals. Not all summer festivals were lucky to have sunny weather, which can leave its marks. Even though many people love or don’t mind rain, it’s much better to leave a festival in dry clothes instead of soaking wet ones.

Many Hungarians adore the feeling of a summer spent at Lake Balaton, so the lake itself and the great performers’ list was probably enough for a lot of people to visit Strand Festival. The international selection included top-notch names like the Hurts (UK), Lost Frequencies (B), the energetic Hollywood Undead (USA), Jamie Woon (UK), the Brit Awards winner Tom Odell (UK), the Dutch super star Caro Emerald (NL), Asking Alexandria (UK) and the drum ’n’ bass specialist Chase & Status (UK), while the Hungarian selection mustered many of the popular names in the current Hungarian music industry.

If you plan ahead, you can even combine your holiday with the concerts of the festival next year. Make sure to keep updated about next year’s summer festivals in Hungary, which deservedly continue to win acknowledgements!
