Hungarian FM Szijjártó expresses condolences over death of Iran’s president, foreign minister

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has expressed his condolences over the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian who died in a tragic accident on 19 May.

Szijjártó’s letter to Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran
Szijjártó said in his letter of condolence posted on Facebook and addressed to acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani that “I remember during my visit on 16 December, 2021 my meeting with Mr President Raisi and talks with Foreign Minister Abdollahian who always supported the strengthening of traditionally friendly Hungarian-Irani relations”.
“I will never forget that he was always available when I asked him for a meeting and he expressed respect for Hungary,” he added.
Szijjártó said his thoughts were with the loved ones of the deceased and wished good health and strength for the responsible work of the acting foreign minister in this difficult period.
