Szijjarto: EU investment plan will go ahead but won’t affect cohesion policy negatively
Brussels, February 5 (MTI) – The financing of the European Union’s investment plan will not have a negative impact on EU cohesion policy or the common agricultural policy, Hungary’s foreign minister said on Thursday.
Peter Szijjarto told Hungarian journalists in Brussels that he had spoken to the European commissioner for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness Jyrki Katainen, who had reassured him on the matter. “There really are new sources,” the minister said, adding that Hungary supported efforts by the European Commission to perk up investments, and they agreed that in order for Europe to restore its competitiveness it was important that a new, strategic type of investment strategy should support job creation.
