Szijjarto expects Hungary-Serbia border fence completed in few months
Budapest, July 2 (MTI) – The construction of a temporary fence on the Hungarian-Serbian border is expected to take a few months, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Thursday.
The minister told public news channel M1 that work would start at 8-10 locations simultaneously, mostly at sections that are currently most exposed to pressure by migrants “in order to make it clear to everyone that Hungary will put an end to such illegal practices”.
Szijjarto expects that building the fence will not cast a shadow on good relations between Hungary and Serbia.
“This is a measure of necessity by Hungary in order to protect itself and … also the European Union” from illegal immigrants, he said.
