Szijjarto: Hungary-Kazakhstan economic cooperation on sound footing
Astana, April 1 (MTI) – Political cooperation between Hungary and Kazakhstan is excellent and this provides a good basis for building up economic relations between the two countries, Hungary’s foreign and trade minister told a bilateral business forum in Astana on Wednesday.
Kazakhstan is an important trade partner for Hungary and there is an abundance of opportunities for strengthening economic ties, said Peter Szijjarto. Central Europe and Kazakhstan are equally dynamic economies in the region, he added.
He reassured businessmen of the Hungarian commitment to supporting the building of ties between the two countries and tapping economic opportunities.
The minister announced two agreements aimed at further developing cooperation. The establishment of a strategic council will aid the improvement of political relations, and a financial fund will be created to smooth cooperation between Hungarian and Kazakh companies with support from Hungary’s Eximbank, he said.
He said one goal is to increase the number of Hungarian small and medium-sized firms which can effectively contribute towards exports and thereby contribute towards the building up of ties with Kazakhstan.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban is scheduled to give a speech to the forum as part of his official visit to the country. Karim Maszimov, his counterpart, will also address the business forum.
