Tax office wins four in five lawsuits
Budapest, January 21 (MTI) – Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) won more than 78 percent of the around 2,500 lawsuits taxpayers brought against it last year, daily Magyar Idok said on Thursday.
The percentage was up from 70 percent in the previous years, the paper said.
The combined value of lawsuits filed in 2015 came to about 56 billion forints (EUR 177m).
Taxpayers in the business sector went to court in most cases over the VAT and as private individuals over the result of the tax office’s scrutiny of their wealth increase.
The largest-scale case concerned a dispute over one billion forints worth of VAT, the paper said.
