The 32nd Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition will be opened to the public at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest as part of the Budapest Spring Festival. The best pictures of the Hungarian photo-journalists will be displayed in the newest visual institution of Hungary from 28th March to 18th May – announced the Fidelio.hu.
Traditionally, the Award Ceremony will be held at the venue of the exhibition on 27th March and the photo works will also be displayed in many cities across the country next year. Anyone can get a glance into the exciting life of the Hungarian photo-reporters due to the exhibition. Furthermore, the audience can also recall the most memorable moments of 2013.
The five-member international jury – whose president was Stéphane Arnaud (Deputy Chief Editor of AFP Photo) – chose from the nearly ten thousands pictures that were entered for the exhibition. This photography competition is the most prestigious one in the Hungarian press, and the number of the applicants for the competition was 22% higher than last year.
“Flood, snow and the festival were the most popular topics among the received works. The quality of the pictures has exceeded the level of images of the last few years in almost every category. Furthermore, the photo series were excellent, prominent and well-elaborated pictures even in international comparison”- summarized the jury.
The photo series of István Bielik made in the Syrian civil war got the award of The MÚOSZ Grand Prize (National Association of Hungarian Journalists), while the André Kertész Grand Prize was awarded to András Hajdú D. for his people-oriented photo shoot series.
