These risk factors may bring another wave of epidemics in Hungary

According to experts, several factors indicate that the fourth wave of the coronavirus will develop in Hungary in the autumn. An important question is how large and severe the next wave will be.
The health care system is now trying to relieve after the previous coronavirus waves, with another wave likely to arrive in the fall. Almost every day, there is a virologist, biologist or another expert who claims that the fourth wave is inevitable, writes portfolio.hu.
The delta variant will be the main reason for the next wave.
The delta variant is also a problem in countries with high vaccination rates. The delta variant can infect more people, and the course of the disease can be more severe. Chile and Britain are at the forefront in terms of vaccination, yet the delta variant is a significant concern for the health system. Epidemiological data are also rising in Germany, Spain and Russia.
Based on these, we can rightly assume that the delta variant will appear in Hungary as well. In addition, this viral mutation greatly infects the younger age group, among whom the vaccination rate is not yet high.
In Hungary, the willingness to vaccinate has decreased significantly.
Fifty-six per cent of the total Hungarian population has at least the first vaccination. This is still far from the 75-80 per cent limit, which could curb the spread of the epidemic. In several countries, the vaccination process is stuck around 60 per cent. In addition, many, an estimated half a million people, did not go for the second vaccination, thus reducing the effectiveness of the vaccination.
A significant risk factor is that several types of vaccines have been used in Hungary. In recent days, Sinopharm vaccines have often failed to provide adequate protection against the coronavirus. More than 2 million doses of the Chinese vaccine have been administered in Hungary. In these cases, it may be necessary to give a third dose of either a Chinese vaccine or another vaccine.
The school period can start the next wave.
A critical point is how the vaccination of young people develops. Although vaccination of 12-15-year-olds has already been authorised, no vaccination campaign has been launched. According to official data, only 7 per cent of the 400,000 children aged 12-15 received their first vaccination. If this rate does not increase significantly, another wave may develop at the start of school, writes medicalonline.hu.
In summary, therefore, there are many worrying signs of another epidemic wave. The complete lifting of restrictions will not help either. However, there is hope because Hungary currently has all kinds of vaccines and that another vaccination campaign will soon have the desired vaccination rate.
