Thief stealing phones out of passengers’ hands on Budapest tram – VIDEO
He grabbed the phone out of a 16-year-old girl’s hand so fast that he was already off the tram by the time the girl realised what happened.
Police.hu reported that the 29 years old man stealing phones directly out of people’s hands on tram 1 was captured in a matter of days.
On three consecutive days, László B. stole several mobile phones, either from people travelling by tram or waiting at the tram stop.
According to the police, he looked for his victims between March 26 and 31 on tram line 1.
He first took action on March 26 when he stole the 16-year-old girls phone right from her hands. Once the teenager girl realised what happened, the thief was already off the tram to disappear in a second. With the same method, he acquired mobile phones on three other occasions, writes szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu.
Thanks to the camera shots recorded on the tram and at the stops and to the detailed description of László given by bystanders, he was identified in a couple of days. The Police then went through the complete line of the tram and checked Népliget bus station. Finally, they managed to capture him on Tuesday at the road junction of Könyves Kálmán avenue and Vajda Péter street.
Detectives of the Budapest Police Headquarters – 10th District’s Police Office questioned the suspect, detained him and proposed his arrest to the prosecutor’s office in charge for stealing on 4 occasions, twice as a crime and twice as delinquency.
