Although the summer months are over, there is no reason to get gloomy. Even in autumn, Budapest awaits tourists and expats living in the Hungarian capital with numerous entertainment options. Here are some not to miss this autumn! 😉

Ruin pubs

If you are wondering what the real nightlife is like in Budapest, you should definitely check out a ruin pub. The eclectic bars were originally created from the furnishings of houses and courtyards in the city centre that were waiting to be renovated. The first ruin pub in Budapest was Szimpla Kert, which opened in 2004. The retro-designed community space was extremely popular with foreigners. Therefore, the idea later spread to other inner districts as well and has become a mainstream tourist attraction in Budapest.

Escape rooms

If you are in the mood for a bit of brainstorming, be sure to visit one of Budapest’s escape rooms. The special logic game is usually played by 2-7 people, who can choose the room based on difficulty level and theme. The cooperative game is a great team-building activity that increases participants’ patience, perseverance and communication, as well as develops visual and auditory attention, memory, logic and associative thinking. The themes of the escape rooms in Budapest are endless. You can choose from Egyptian Adventure, Zombie Apocalypse, Illusion, Treasure Hunt, The Web of Erotica, or you can investigate with Poirot or make some magic with Harry Potter.

This cocktail bar offers an exclusive drink experience surrounded by a special arctic design. Located in Váci Street, Budapest’s Icebar awaits its guests with an interior design entirely made of crystal clear ice. Besides the arctic design, visitors can enjoy such cocktail specialties as eskimo kiss, ice flower drops, reindeer’s viagra, melted by love and don’t touch my snowball. And you can enjoy all of them from the bar’s special ice glasses that will certainly not melt in your hands. How is it possible? The temperature in the Icebar is between -1°C and -7°C. Therefore, guests receive a  special floor-length warm hooded poncho with thermo insulation and a pair of warm gloves that gives them a comfortable warm temperature – written on the official website of Icebar Budapest. Currently, there are no Covid restrictions to enter the bar. After the special cocktail experience, the nearby Safari Grill bar awaits guests for an unforgettable dinner. If you are not a fan of nostalgic exhibitions but would like to get a special museum experience in the Hungarian capital, we have a perfect tip for you. Europe’s first interactive selfie museum – the Museum of Sweets and Selfies – is located in Budapest. Since its inauguration in 2018, the special exhibitions is particularly popular with foreigners. Thanks to the great success, one year later, another candy and selfie museum, Bubbles, was opened nearby. The colourful, fun installations were spread over 2 floors, covering a total of 400 square metres. As sweets played a major role in the concept’s design, it was almost natural that the space was complete with an experiential confectionery. Therefore, this experience is guaranteed to be sweet for all the tourists and expats living in Budapest.
