Tragic: Two Hungarian soldiers died recently
In recent days, two Hungarian soldiers have tragically passed away.
On 5 August 2025, a Hungarian Master Sergeant passed away while serving in the EUFOR peacekeeping mission in Sarajevo. The 47-year-old soldier had been part of the mission since August 2024, serving as a member of the Hungarian Defence Forces’ Air Operations and Control Centre. The Hungarian Defence Forces ensured the repatriation of the deceased.
On 7 August 2025, during a marching exercise between Sirok and Kékestető, a 29-year-old corporal of the Hungarian Defence Forces became unwell, and his circulation stopped shortly after. A battlefield medic present at the scene immediately began resuscitation efforts, which were continued by the arriving emergency medical services. Unfortunately, the attempt to save his life was unsuccessful. Experts are investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
The Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Armed Forces expressed their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased soldiers.
