Almost ten thousand refugees arrive in Hungary from Ukraine each day
Fully 5,388 people crossed into Hungary directly from Ukraine on Tuesday, while another 3,887 from Ukraine crossed from Romania, the national police headquarters said.
Police issued temporary residence permits valid for thirty days to 1,788 people, the police website said on Wednesday. Holders of such permits must contact a local immigration office near their place of residence within thirty days to apply for permanent documents, it said.
Budapest police received 679 refugees, 303 children among them, by train, according to the municipal police website.
Refugees arriving on special train services at Kobanya felso railway station, in eastern Budapest, were taken by bus to the BOK sports and events centre serving as a humanitarian transit point.
The authorities transported 11 people, including 6 children, to accommodation in the capital and outlying areas.

Interesting you raise Hungary a “transit country” – when this Russian War on the Ukraine finds “calm & tolerance” – decisions made by ALL & sundry – which way this war is going to play out, what personally will not surprise me, the “transit” role that Hungary appears to be playing, what number of these refugee Ukrainians – will settle in Hungary.
Historical large scaring and deep wounds – long memories – taken by Hungarians & Ukrainians – possible will be a Major factor, in the number of Ukrainians, that decide to re-locate and make Hungary – another phase in the journey of there lives.
