German paedophile detained in Hungary under European warrant

Hungarian police have arrested a German national wanted by the German authorities for sexually assaulting and coercing children in his care, police.hu said on Tuesday.

The man arrested under a European warrant had been handed a prison sentence in Germany for molesting children between 1992 and 1999.

The man fled the country before his sentence could be carried out, the website said.

Hungarian police participating in European investigations network ENFAST were alerted when the man was thought to be hiding in Hungary.

The man was detained in Igal, in south-western Hungary. The authorities will decide on his extradition to Germany at a later date, the website said.

As we wrote in January, the kindergarten teacher and her partner are also accused of child pornography. Child pornography was shared on forums used by paedophiles. The man sexually abused their shared child. Details HERE.

ENFAST

According to the official site, the ENFAST project aims to increase security within the EU by improving efficiency in tracing and arresting internationally wanted criminals, who committed serious crimes. ENFAST is a network of police officers available 24/7 who can immediately undertake action to locate and arrest fugitives.

In 2010 at a fugitives conference attended by 24 national fugitive teams of the EU, an initiative was put forward to create a European network of national fugitive teams, named ENFAST.

This initiative was adopted by the European Council on 1st of January 2013.

The Belgian FAST took the first Presidency for a two-year period (2013-2014), currently FAST Spain (2021-2023) ensuring the continuity of the project.
