The Budapest Police Headquarters has been investigating a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman on suspicion of human trafficking and forced labour. The young victims were drugged and forced into prostitution in the Hungarian capital.

As the Hungarian news portal 24.hu reports, the two suspects have been forcing young girls into prostitution in rented flats in the city centre, advertising their services on an internet site and providing accommodation for the activity.

The young girls had financial difficulties. According to the Police Headquarters, the man promised the girls half of the money he received from prostitution services, but later took all the money from them. The perpetrator couple managed the calls of the clients. If they were not available, they forced the girls to handle the phone. If they did not talk to the ‘customers’ in the way he expected, the male perpetrator abused them. He also forced the girls to take drugs and prohibited them to leave the apartment.

Finally, at dawn on 23 August, the Budapest police caught arrested the man.

He was interrogated the same day together with his partner. The alleged perpetrators did not confess. The investigators have sent the documents of the proceedings on the well-founded suspicion of human trafficking and forced labour to the competent prosecutor’s office after the interviews – reported by szon.hu.
