ZF Hungaria inaugurates EUR 96m plant in northeast Hungary

German-owned transmission maker ZF Hungaria inaugurated a 31.5 billion forint (EUR 96m) plant in Eger, in northeast Hungary, on Thursday.

Construction of the 40,000 sqm plant was supported by a 6.7 billion forint state grant, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign affairs and trade minister, said at the inauguration.

The investment will create more than 770 jobs by the end of next year.

The plant will turn out 150,000 automatic transmissions a year, but capacity is expected to be ramped up to 500,000 within a few years.
