Ukraine Crisis Hits Tourism Hard
Budapest, October 15 (MTI) – The number of Russian tourists visiting western Europe is likely to drop by 20-30 percent and Hungary is also likely to be affected, business daily Vilaggazdasag said today.
The number of Russian guest nights in Hungary dropped by 10 percent in August. Wizz Air recently adjusted flight capacities on the Budapest-Kiev and Budapest-Moscow services and at the same time launched a Kiev-Moscow flight on Sept. 30, the paper said.
If the number of Russian guest nights drops in the long term, the spa town Heviz will be among the most affected destinations. Local tourism services told the paper that a slight drop in Russian visitors is already noticeable though not yet significant.
