University of Szeged launches enrolled training programme in China

The University of Szeged (SZTE) and Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) are launching a nationwide recruitment training program in China, unique among Hungarian institutions.
Degree in China and at the University of Szeged
The bachelor’s degree lasts four years, with three years spent in China and one year in Hungary, the university’s public relations directorate informed MTI on Monday. According to the statement, 120 students per cohort can participate in the education, and applicants can apply from not only Shaanxi Province but from all over China. Nationwide recruitment programs awarding international diplomas are considered special in China.

The SNNU is located in Xi’an, the historical capital of China, also world-famous for its Terracotta Army, and boasts high prestige and international reputation. The foundation of the cooperation between SZTE and SNNU was laid in September 2022 through a cooperation agreement. Negotiations and consultations have continued since then, and the biggest achievement so far is that a joint program will start in the fall, at the end of which students can receive diplomas from both universities.
Fourth year in Szeged
After completing the first three years at SNNU, students will complete the fourth year at SZTE. The program will focus on the most modern knowledge in engineering informatics. Currently, a group of Chinese students is staying in Szeged as part of the summer university program organised by the two institutions. The Chinese students get acquainted with the basics of the Hungarian language and culture, get a taste of Hungarian specialties (hungarikum), and visit the Ópusztaszer National Historical Memorial Park and the ELI ALPS laser research institute.
At SZTE, Chinese relations and programs are continuously developing. From the fall, a Chinese language specialisation will start at the Department of Altaic Studies in the Faculty of Humanities, and further educational and research collaborations with SNNU and other Chinese partner institutions are expected, according to the statement.
