Unknown individuals chose to travel on the side of a train in Érd, according to footage shared by the local police.

According to a video uploaded to the official YouTube page of the Hungarian police, unidentified men travelled on the side of a passenger train departing from Érd. In the late afternoon of 1 June, they jumped onto the side of a moving train at Érd railway station. They remained there until the next stop, Érd-felső, before jumping off and fleeing the scene.
The local police are asking anyone who recognises the individuals, who were risking their lives, to contact the Pest County Police Headquarters on +36 1 236 2897, or to submit an anonymous report via the Telefontanú (Phone Witness) service on +36 80 555 111, or by calling the central emergency number 112.
They added that travelling on the side of a train can easily lead to life-threatening situations, particularly when the carriages contract. Furthermore, individuals can easily fall while the train is travelling at high speed, or be struck by high-voltage overhead wires.

Teenagers died after climbing on a freight train
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl climbed onto a freight train in Budapest and came dangerously close to a 25 kV overhead wire. Although they did not touch it, both were fatally struck by an electric arc. Such phenomena can cause death even from several metres away. This is one of the reasons why entering areas near high-voltage equipment is strictly prohibited, vaol.hu wrote.

Professionals working with such infrastructure are required to wear specially designed arc-rated personal protective equipment (PPE) that meets international standards.
The teenage boy died instantly at the scene, while the girl suffered severe burns over more than 70 per cent of her body and later died in hospital.
Another 16-year-old girl who was with them did not climb onto the train and was therefore unharmed. However, she was severely shocked by the incident and was taken to hospital after witnessing what had happened to her friends.
