Video: a movie-like car chase in the Hungarian capital

A motorist tried to flee the authorities in Budapest but was eventually arrested by police. The incident was also captured on video.

On 7 April, Budapest police officers attempted to check a car. The vehicle had been stopped before, and the occupants had been caught for drug use.

According to the police, however, the car did not stop but drove off. The police siren was sounded and a loud bell was blared for the driver to stop. A chase ensued, which lasted several streets, and eventually, a head-on officer coming from the front blocked the path of the fleeing vehicle.

The driver got out and tried to flee but didn’t have a chance. The car contained a pipe used for drug consumption, suspected marihuana joints and empty pieces of foil. The man was prosecuted for possession of drugs and for forgery of public documents.
