VIDEO, PHOTOS: Brutal windstorm in Hungary, buildings collapsed, trees uprooted, traffic disastrous
A video about the collapse of the grande gate of a Penny Market in Mohács went viral today in Hungary. The windstorm was so strong that it caused considerable damage in the country and turned the traffic upside down.
According to telex.hu, disaster management officers had to intervene in 2,300 places, mostly in Transdanubia. They are still working to help people in trouble and reduce the damage the extreme weather caused in many parts of the country. For example, the grande stone gate of the Penny Market in Mohács, a small town in South Hungary, collapsed because of the wind.
As you can see in the video below, it was just a matter of seconds before the gate buried a car leaving the supermarket. Bystanders were in shock, passers-by rushed there, asking around whether they could help or not.
The Hungarian Meteorological Service shared why the windstorm came into being. The reason was the air pressure difference between East and West Hungary, reaching 15 hPa. In the East, there was 1012 hPa, while in the West, 1027 hPa, portfolio.hu wrote.
