VIDEO: President Zelensky booed at Rod Stewart’s Budapest concert
Rod Stewart projected the photos of Ukrainian soldiers, destroyed Ukrainian towns and cities, and President Zelensky during one of his greatest hit songs in his Budapest concert in the MVM Dome. He probably did not expect this reaction from the audience.
Rod Stewart is in Budapest
The Scottish superstar returned to Budapest with his greatest songs on 22 June and gave an astonishing concert to the Hungarian audience. The Hungarian capital is one station of his world tour. Next week, he will give a show in Cologne, Germany, and then he will go to Switzerland.
He gave his first concert in Hungary in 2010 on the Square of 1956 freedom fighters in Budapest, and more than 250,000 fans attended it. The 78-year-old star’s greatest hits include Maggie May, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, Baby Jane, The First Cut Is the Deepest, I Don’t Want to Talk About It, Tonight’s the Night, You Are in My Heart, Hot Legs, Forever Young, and Sailing.
Boo came after Zelensky appeared
But it seems nobody prepared him for what he could have expected from the Hungarian audience after projecting President Zelensky behind him during one of his songs.
According to Telex, he offered one of his hit songs, Rhythm Of My Heart (1991), to Ukraine and Zelensky. He was dressed in Ukrainian national colours (blue and yellow) and projected photos of Zelensky, Ukrainian cities and soldiers. When Zelensky appeared, the Hungarian audience began to boo. According to the reporter of the Hungarian media outlet, they calmed down immediately, and his next song was welcomed with an ovation.
That was not the first time Rod Stewart showed support for the Ukrainian president. He did the same in Leipzig’s Quarterback Immobilien Arena on 14 June and received the same response from the fans. Even so, he said after the incident that he supports Zelensky and the Ukrainian people. “Putin must be stopped!“, he added. In a Sky News interview, Steward called Putin an a**hole.

That’s how freedom works in the west. You can boo at leaders without consequences. Imagine booing at Putins’ image in Russia. You’d find yourself jailed for years to come. And still some people think that there is nothing wrong with Russia and we shouldn’t have sanctions etc…
Hungarian people can identify an enemy, Zelensky.
It shows you the effect of years of relentless disinformation put out by Fidesz through their Hungarian controlled media. Stewart should follow the picture of Zelensky with a picture of Putin and see what the audience reaction is. The country is a basket case.
Much as I supported Ukraine at the start of the war, and still do to a large extent, it is clear there is more to the whole story than meets the eye. Zelensky has turned into a self-entitled charlatan, not to mention his ministers and others. The war, exorbitantly expensive in both human and financial terms, has run its course. It’s time to sit down to talk. Yet, the West just rejected Putin’s THIRD offer to begin negotiations.
Well, enough is enough. Ukraine is fast losing public support. They better sober up, and fast, or it’s not going to end well for anybody.
Michael Steiner you want talk.
You and that “mariavonthersa” thing, in need of a BRAIN transplant, instead of the CRAP you write, that just continues feeds into the decline of Hungary – the TRAGETY it is, through the Political Party of Orban and his Government – the Fidesz Party – of both your membership.
You want accepting Putin to meet and TALK.
My reply to the “invaders” of the Ukraine is :
“Fuck off back – remove the troops you have, on the land of the Ukraine, back into onto Russian land.
Agree on a CEASE Fire.
Agree that in the outcome of TALKS – that RUSSIA will pay RENUMERATION to the Ukraine – for it’s War, the damage it has caused inflicted upon the Ukraine.
Just few little reasons WHY – no TALK should be at ALL on Russia’s terms or even initiation.
KEEP the process – build on the PROCESS of STRANGULATING them through Sanctions.
It WILL continue Havoc and CHAOS – death in numbers, economic / financial – infrastructure & “other” – AGONY, but it’s on the terms of DEMOCRACY – what is in the CORE the meaning of the word DEMOCRACY – that Putin – Russia – MUST pay what they DESERVE.
I’d boo him too. Politics should stay out of my entertainment.
