VIDEO: Rampage driver crashes into police cars, speeds at 200 km/h on Hungarian motorway
The Budapest Regional Investigating Prosecutor’s Office has ordered an investigation against a man who on Tuesday failed to stop his car despite police warnings and crashed into a service vehicle several times on the M2 motorway near Dunakeszi. A video of the end of the car chase was also recorded.
According to the Central Investigating Prosecutor’s Office, the police carried out a traffic control, during which they tried to stop a man who ignored them and drove at a speed of 200 kilometres per hour.
While overtaking, the fleeing man collided with a service vehicle, which drifted into the hard shoulder, 24.hu reports. The offender then drove his vehicle into the line with another police car, which he also drove into. The police officer, in order to avoid a collision, applied the emergency brakes. This caused the chased driver to drive his car into the concrete lane divider, which resulted in the left front wheel of the vehicle being torn off.
In the hard shoulder, a police car stopped next to the man’s car. The officer pulled out his service weapon and ordered the man to get out of his vehicle. He did not comply, so he was pulled from his car.
The suspect still did not cooperate, shouting at the police that they were “going to die”.
According to a statement from the prosecutor’s office, the man was driving his car while disqualified from driving. The prosecutor’s office took the man into custody and questioned him as a suspect for the offences of violence against a public official, road endangerment, criminal damage and driving while disqualified.
