A man with a knife in his hand approached a pedestrian at around 12.30pm on 16 August 2022 in Ady Endre Street in the XXth district. He threatened him and then demanded money from him with a knife in his hand.
The victim refused and pushed the assailant away. The offender then went into a nearby lottery and demanded money from a man who was there, threatening him with a knife. The man flinched from being stabbed, so the attacker punched him in the face and then left the shop. The man was not injured.
The two victims saw a police car parked outside a takeaway near the attack and went into the shop to ask for help. A policeman in line for lunch immediately rushed to the aid of the two assaulted persons. Based on the description, he caught up with the perpetrator while he called for backup from colleagues at the XX and XXIII District Police Station.
Attila Sz., 39, was arrested within 10 minutes and the kitchen knife used in the crime was seized from him. The man was questioned on suspicion of two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of attempted aggravated assault, and was taken into custody and a motion was made for his arrest, which was ordered by the court.
