JD Vance, vice president of the United States, told Fox News that his administration would certainly have a good working relationship with the next Hungarian prime minister, adding that he regretted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s recent electoral defeat.
Asked about his visit to Budapest a few days before the national election, Vance said: “We went because it was the right thing to do to stand behind a person who had stood by us for a very long time.”
Referring to Orbán, Vance said he was one of the few European leaders to have stood up against a European bureaucracy on bad terms with the US, adding that his 16 year premiership had fundamentally changed Hungary.
Vance: they knew there could be problems
US Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s election loss would be “very bad” for the United States but Washington would work with the country’s next government.
“We certainly knew there was a very good chance that Victor would lose that election. We did it because he’s one of the few European leaders we’ve seen who’s been willing to stand up to the bureaucracy in Brussels,” he said, referring to US support for Orbán. “That has been very, very bad for the United States,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News.
He described Orbán as “a great guy who’s done a very good job,” adding that his leadership had been “transformational” for Hungary over 16 years.
Vance said the US would work with Hungary’s next prime minister.
“I’m sad that he lost. We’ll work very well, I’m sure, with the next prime minister of Hungary,” he said. “But it wasn’t a bad trip at all, because it’s worth standing by people, even if you don’t win every race.” Vance visited Budapest five days before the vote and urged Hungarians to support Orbán, saying he represented their interests.
Hungary’s opposition Tisza party’s leader Peter Magyar held a wide lead over incumbent Orbán in Sunday’s elections, according to the National Election Office. Orbán later conceded defeat, saying: “We will serve our nation from the opposition.”

Vance is an ignorant stooge of a criminal government, he has admitted in interviews that he isn’t even fully aware of Orbán’s policies. His support for Fidesz was blind and only based in politics, not reality. If he had spent more than a day here in his life he might get a better understanding of what was wrong in this country and what needed changed fundamentally rather than just parroting Fidesz propaganda to stunningly off-mark results in a landslide election. What a loser.
Thankfully Hungarians were smart enough to understand that aligning themselves with a narcissistic psychopath who threatens Europe’s and Hungary’s security was the height of hypocrisy for a supposedly ‘anti war’ leader like Orbán. And Trump is guaranteed to be muttering to himself right now ‘Orbán is a total loser’ and would like nothing else to do with him, since he can’t be seen with losers.
Totally. Orban is seen as a Loser with a capital ‘L’. MAGA and Russia want nothing further to do with him having suffered such an epic defeat at the hands of a party that 2 years ago didn’t even exist, have no experience in government and against whom the entire arsenal of state propaganda was directed. Yet they still won. Big. And Orban lost. Big.
If Orban really has a mere 10 million Forints on his bank account, or whatever derisory sum he declared to the authorities then perhaps Fidesz can start a Just Giving page for him so that he won’t have to go hungry when he struggles to find a job. I believe he’s a few years away from retirement age, even though he looks about 10 years older than he really is. Perhaps Janos Lazar can give him a job cleaning toilets on a MAV Intercity over the next week or two, apparently there’s a shortage there he wants to fill with Roma candidates.
Orbán did a great job to his country 😂😂 what a stupid statement from a stupid idiot
Orbán led Hungary to be among the top corrupted counties in the EU for the last couple of years.
This is his biggest achievement
