What is the average salary in Hungary? Here are the latest figures

MTI-ECONEWS – The average gross wage rose 9.8pc year-on-year to HUF 708,300 (EUR 1757) in April, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Tuesday show. Latest average salary in Hungary:

According to KSH, net wages increased 9.6% to HUF 486,500 (EUR 1,207). Real wages rose 5.2pc, calculating with April CPI of 4.2pc. The median gross salary increased by 10.2% to HUF 564,800 (EUR 1,400).

Hungary’s statutory monthly minimum wage was raised by 9pc to HUF 290,800 for unskilled labourers and by 7pc to HUF 348,800 for skilled workers from January 1, 2025.

Excluding the 65,600 Hungarians working full-time in fostered work programmes – who earned an average gross of HUF 144,800 in April — the average gross monthly wage was HUF 720,100 (EUR 1,786).

Excluding fostered workers, the average gross wage in the business sector, which includes state-owned companies, rose 9.9pc to HUF 716,900 (EUR 1,778). The average gross wage in the public sector climbed 8.1pc to HUF 729,400. In the non-profit sector, the average gross wage increased 12.3pc to HUF 728,600.

For the period January-April, gross wages averaged HUF 687,400 (EUR 1,705) and net wages came to HUF 472,300 (EUR 1,172). Gross wages were up 9.4pc from the same period a year earlier and net wages climbed 9.2pc.
