A baggage handler at London’s Gatwick Airport has been suspended after a video surfaced showing him forcefully hurling suitcases from a Wizz Air aircraft’s cargo hold. The incident, recorded on 6 February, depicts luggage being thrown with such vigour that some bags rebounded off the plane’s structure before landing on the conveyor belt.

The footage, initially published by The Sun, captures large suitcases being ejected from the cargo hatch, crashing onto the conveyor system below. The individual responsible was not visible in the video; however, the aggressive handling of the luggage was evident. Menzies Aviation, the ground handling company employing the worker, labelled the event as an “isolated incident”. Both Menzies and Wizz Air have issued apologies to passengers, emphasising their commitment to preventing such occurrences in the future. A Wizz Air spokesperson stated: “Such behaviour is not tolerated, and a full investigation has been launched to ensure it does not happen again.”

According to The Independent, the employee in question has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. Wizz Air assured passengers that this behaviour does not reflect their usual high standards and confirmed that the individual involved will not participate in the airline’s operations moving forward.
