Wizz Air expands routes with new links to multiple European destinations

Change language:
Wizz Air is set to broaden its presence across Central and Eastern Europe with fresh routes and increased frequencies. The low-cost airline is enhancing travel options by connecting Budapest to the lakeside city of Ohrid and adding more flights between Romania and Hungary.
Eyeing new destinations
As reported by EX-YU Aviation News, Wizz Air is expanding its Central and Eastern European operations, with plans to introduce a new service between Budapest and Ohrid, North Macedonia, during the 2026 summer season. The announcement was made by Macedonia’s Transport Minister, Aleksandar Nikoloski. This development follows the airline’s earlier cancellation of the Budapest–Skopje route eight years after its operation. Despite being selected for subsidies, the airline has yet to confirm flights between Ohrid and Basel. These shifts reveal Wizz Air’s ongoing strategy to refine its network across the Balkans.
Increasing flight frequencies
Meanwhile, Wizz Air continues to strengthen its presence in Romania. As Maszol reports, the airline will increase its Brasov–Budapest route to four weekly flights from 26 October, adding a Sunday service to its existing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule. Additionally, from 16 October, the budget airline will begin flying to Naples, joining existing routes from Brasov Airport to Dortmund, London, and Budapest. This growth comes as air connectivity to Budapest remains limited, particularly following the suspension of the Cluj-Napoca–Budapest service by Aeroexpress Regional.
