Women unemployment cut most in Hungary in EU comparison
Budapest (MTI) – The decline in the female unemployment rate in Hungary has been the largest in the European Union, the government spokeswoman said on Thursday.
Eva Kurucz told a press conference on the government’s job protection scheme that the unemployment rate for women is 7.7 percent in Hungary as against the EU average of 10 percent.
The scheme gives employers incentives to hire women returning after maternity leave.
Commenting on the law which allows women to retire after 40 years spent in employment, she noted that 117,000 women had taken up the opportunity.
Speaking about the job protection action plan, employers have saved more than 200 billion forints thanks to the elimination of some types of contribution payment payable after employees, thereby helping more than 800,000 people get a job, she said.
