Year of Hungarian Science kicked off on Budapest’s Heroes’ Square

The Year of Hungarian Science programme is “a special opportunity to put Hungarian research and the social significance of science in the limelight, and to bring science closer to young people,” the minister of culture and innovation said at a ceremony marking the opening of the programme’s events at Budapest’s Heroes’ Square on Thursday.

The year-long programme, held this year and in 2026, was launched to mark the 200th anniversary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. “Science and innovation are the glory of our past and the strength of our future,” Balázs Hankó said.

  1. Congrats! Looks fun and interesting! Good to get youth interested in science and honor the gift of Gróf Széchenyi in the Hungarian Academy!
