The perfect quiet beach near Budapest to escape from the crowd
There is a beautiful lake with a sandy beach only an hour-long-car-ride away from Budapest, which is the perfect place to go to if you are fed up with the crowded baths in the capital, Femina.hu reports. Get to know the village of Domony and its peaceful lake.
We can state that the beach season has officially started, and luckily, all of Budapest’s open-air baths (such as the Palatinus, Csillaghegyi and Pünkösdfürdői) have been up and running for weeks now. Even the popular Lupa beach put out its comfy canopy beds and started mixing cocktails. However, these places can get really crowded very fast, as everybody tries to cool off in this hot weather.
Domony
Domony is a tiny village with two thousand people, situated in Pest County, near the river Galga and the M3 highway. It only takes 50 minutes to get there from Budapest by car, but you can also catch a train which takes just a little bit longer than that.
The main attraction of the area is definitely the beautiful lake of Domonyvölgy [Domony valley]. You will find a modern sandy beach beside the lake called D-beach.
The lake and its D-beach
This beach is very family friendly, and even though it gets more and more popular each year, it is still not nearly as crowded as the beaches in the capital.
The place has a very sea-like atmosphere with its palm trees, sunshades, and sandy beach. The beach also has a buffet, a bar, beach volleyball and football fields, and a playground. Adult tickets cost HUF 1500 for the whole day, but it is cheaper after 1 PM.
Other things to do in Domonyvölgy
The area offers many other activities to its visitors besides the D-beach, such as quads, fishing, hunting, hiking, and a manege. The village of Domony might also be worth discovering after a long day of lying around on the beach.
