Do you know what Hungarians commemorate on 4 June?
Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén said the guarantee of Hungarians’ survival was a strong Hungary, one with a will to continue and proud of its language, culture and history, marking the Day of National Cohesion, 4 June, in Zebegény, northern Hungary, on Saturday.
Semjén, the head of the co-ruling Christian Democrats, said that Hungary also needed to be strong enough to protect its national interests as well as compatriots living outside of the borders.
Parliament declared 4 June the Day of National Cohesion in 2010. June 4 was selected to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920. Read more about the treaty in THIS article.
