Ader: Hungary ready to start investments in Vietnam
Ho Shi Minh City, November 29 (MTI) – Hungary is ready to start investments in Vietnam, President Janos Ader said on today, ending a week-long visit to the country.
A project to build a waste water treatment facility on the Red River using a 300-million-dollar credit line from Hungary could start within six months, he said. The facility would be built with experts from Budapest Water Works, he added.
Ader was visiting Vietnam at the invitation of his counterpart Truong Tan Sang.
Among the outcome of talks during the week he noted the agreement that the Hungarian military would help design a map which would be used in demining the part of Vietnam where landmines still kill 1,000 people a year. He added that talks included Vietnam’s plans to build a nuclear power plant with Hungary’s help in training experts. The Vietnamese nuclear plant is under licensing procedure. Ader said if Hungary starts its new nuclear power block investment, Vietnamese experts can view the process from the start.
Hungarians are ready to participate in freshwater fish breeding in Vietnam. Overfishing and salt water penetration are growing problems in Vietnam, so fresh water breeding is a must, he said.
Summing up his visit, Ader said opportunities in Vietnam for Hungarian investments are open and Hungarian-Vietnamese relations are growing. Bilateral trade has grown by 60 percent since the Vietnamese president’s visit to Hungary last year and there are still untapped opportunities.
Earlier Ader met the mayor of Ho Shi Minh City and visited local water treatment companies. He was accompanied by his wife, Anita Herczegh, on his visit.
