Best spots to watch the festive fireworks of 20 August
As you might know, the 20th of August is a public holiday in Hungary, when we commemorate the foundation of the state by our first king, Saint Stephen. The highlight of the all-day festivities is probably the fireworks show at 9 pm. Szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu collected the best spots to watch the spectacular show.
The main location of the fireworks show will be the Danube’s section in front of the Parliament, which lies between the Chain Bridge and Margaret Bridge. The show will start at 9 pm and last for around thirty minutes.
This means that the best spots to watch the fireworks will be the Id. Antall József Quay on the Pest side and the Bem Quay on the Buda side. Basically, if you manage to find a spot between the two bridges, the ultimate fireworks experience is guaranteed.
Moreover, the fireworks will be absolutely stunning from the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Buda Castle’s Danube side, the funicular’s squares and walks, and essentially every spot, from where you can see the Parliament. The Chain Bridge will be closed off, but the Margaret Bridge will offer a great view of the show.
The musical background will include old classics, which will balance the modern spectacle. Among others, the colours will represent the red-white-green Hungarian flag and the yellow-blue flag of the EU. Blazing stars will dance to the Blue Danube waltz, and the songs of the famous Hungarian rock opera, Stephen, the King, will accompany some of the firework formations.
This year’s fireworks will include almost 25 thousand visual effects, so it’s definitely going to be unique. If you can’t or don’t want to go out to the Danube coast, or if you’re scared of the bad weather forecast, you might want to watch EarthCam’s live webcam.
The company invites people from all around the world to be part of the fun, celebrate St. Stephen’s Day in Hungary and watch the fireworks in Budapest over the Danube with EarthCam’s live webcam, thanks to the Boutique Hotel Victoria Budapest.
