Hungarian confectionery Ékes-Édes Stúdió won the Academy Award for cakes
Szeretlek Magyarország reports that Anikó Vargáné Orbán has won in the Royal Icing category at the Cake Masters Award competition with a wonderful cake castle creation.
We’ve reported previously that Anikó Orbán made it to the finals of Cake Masters Award, where a 12 member professional jury picks the best in 18 different categories. Now we learned that she’s actually won.
Anikó tells her readers in her blog that the biggest challenge she’s ever faced in her carrier was making a cake castle, but, as we can see, she excelled at this. We further learn that the most complicated part of the whole process was the planning: it took her two weeks to perfect every single detail. The idea of the castle is her husband’s, who – as Anikó notes – is much more inventive when it comes to daring creativity.
“The stakes became much higher, than what I would have taken upon myself alone” – describes the collaboration Anikó.
“It was really hard to find inspiration. I’ve looked through photos of numerous real-life buildings, castles, glass palaces on the internet, but I could not find a single one that would’ve helped me in some parts – let alone copy the whole building. Producing such grandiose icing creations requires the expertise of an engineer, boundless creativity and precision. I have never done such a thing before in my life”
“It was unbelievable. Thank you for supporting me!” – announced Anikó her win on her Facebook page.
As it turns out, putting together the almost 120 cm tall and 4 kilograms heavy cake was not the only challenge she had to face: the cake had to be transported as well. Her husband helped her again with this task, who even provided a led lighting as to make the cake more attractive.
You can check out the rest of Anikó’s work on her Facebook and Instagram pages.
