Hungarian deputy state secretary awarded Poland’s state honour
The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland has been awarded to Csaba Latorcai, deputy state secretary for social relations in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Handing over the honour to Latorcai on Friday, Stanislaw Karczewski, Marshal of the Senate, noted that the two nations had always lived in great friendship.
Latorcai said that the 1,000-year friendship between the two nations is a special heritage “of all the struggles fought together” for freedom and independence.
He added that the two nations can build their future on a strong foundation, Christianity, which “guaranteed their survival through several centuries”.
Jerzy Snopek, the Polish ambassador to Hungary, said that the deputy state secretary had always promoted the cause of the Polish minority living in Hungary.
“It is also due to him that Hungarian-Polish friendship is not an empty slogan but day-to-day reality for the Polish community residing here,” he said.
