Iranian President Rouhani: Iran, Hungary bridge between Middle East and Central Europe
Tehran (MTI) – Hungary and Iran can act as a bridge joining the Middle East and Central Europe, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in Tehran on Monday.
According to a statement released by Iran’s foreign ministry, Rouhani said in a meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto that there was great potential for political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Rouhani said his country’s nuclear programme was proceeding ahead peacefully under the surveillance of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Rouhani condemned Western pressure and sanctions against the Islamic Republic, and said he was confident Iran and the West could reach an agreement on the nuclear programme.
The president touched on the rise of extremism and said that “all countries should join hands to identify the roots of terrorism” in order to eliminate it.
