Roma murders task force says perpetrators acted alone
Budapest, June 8 (MTI) – A task force of seven law enforcement agencies investigating the Roma murders of 2008-2009 have found that the four men sentenced for the crimes had no additional accomplices, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Monday.
The paper said the investigative task force was made up of Hungary’s counter terrorism force TEK, the National Investigation Bureau (NNI), the National Defence Service (NVSZ), the Constitutional Protection Office, the Special Service for National Security (SNSS), the Coordination Centre against Organised Crime (SZBKK) and the Military National Security Service (KNBSZ).
The task force was assigned to investigate whether the perpetrators acted for and on behalf of any organisation or if they acted alone, TEK told the paper.
The investigation found no evidence that any other people or organisations were involved in the crimes, TEK said.
A Budapest court handed down in a non-final ruling three life sentences in the trial of the murders in August 2013. The fourth defendant was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
