The Australian superstar, Margot Robbie, filmed a movie in Hungary two years ago, in 2016. However, recorder.blog.hu has just published a rare interview with the actress, in which she refers to Budapest and Hungarians very favourably.
More and more A-list Hollywood actors and actresses come to Budapest to shoot some scenes for their upcoming movies. However, they rarely agree to talk to the local press. Margot Robbie, though, the 27-year-old Australian actress, decided to sit down for an interview back in 2016. She was in the capital for three months, shooting Terminal, which she starred in and also co-produced.
In Hungary, Robbie loved the fact that she did not have to run from paparazzi all the time. She revealed how refreshing it was that the fear of being chased by paparazzi did not even have to cross her mind. She went to a lot of places in Budapest on foot and found Hungarian fans very polite and respectful. In fact, she even watched the Hungary-Iceland football match of the 2016 European Championship at Szabadság Square, among all the other fans.
“Everybody was so chill; I did not even make a stir. I was very grateful for that.”
“People did recognise me, but they didn’t make a big deal of it. They didn’t start to act weird or begin to harass me. They came over to talk a bit, then I told them it was my day off, and I was with my friends, and everybody totally respected that. They just wished me to have a great time and said goodbye, that’s all.
Hungarians are so cool.”
A few years ago, the actress was backpacking across Europe. She did not make it to Hungary then, as she had to leave early, but her friends did. They were really positive about the country, so Robbie has planned on visiting ever since.
“I’m pleased I’m here now. I love the atmosphere of the city and all the parks. Unfortunately, I don’t know what it’s called, but that park near the Danube with the castle resembling the Disney logo is incredible. I love it; we had picknicks there. ”
She is also a fan of the gastronomy, especially the Hungarian wines. She loves burgers, too, and asked a Hungarian co-worker for a list of the best burger places in Budapest.
As for Hungarian movies, the actress said she would like to watch the Hungarian Oscar-winning movie, Son of Saul, and it is on her to-watch list. She also admitted, though, that that list is very long.
Margot Robbie was nominated for an Oscar this year, for her role in I, Tonya. Many of her next projects require her to reprise the role of Harley Quinn, like Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens or Birds of Prey. She is also scheduled to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, acting alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. Her role will be to portray actress Sharon Tate.
