Hungarian success at the EU’s contest for young scientists

According to szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu, Blanka Novák, the graduate student of Dobó István High School of Eger, won the special prize of the jury out of 88 entrants.

88 projects from 38 countries were entered for this year’s European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) held in Dublin, and we are thrilled to report that a Hungarian student achieved an outstanding result.

Incidentally, EUCYS was launched in 1989 with the aim of encouraging young people to get involved in science and eventually embark on a career in research.

It promotes the ideals of co-operation and interchange between young scientists.

The Contest is the annual showcase of the best of European students’ scientific achievement, where students also have the chance to meet others with similar abilities and interests and some of the most prominent scientists in Europe.

Three students represented Hungary, who were chosen by the Hungarian Association for Innovation at the 2017/2018 Scientific and Innovation Talent Competition. The winners were Marianna Matányi & Marcell Kákonyi (Does the right eye know what the left hand does?), Áron Tassi Timián (Smart lamp) and Blanka Novák (the examination of the physiological effects of Lycium barbarum).

The highlight of the event was when the jury awarded Blanka Novák with a special prize for her work. She also received a study trip to Dublin.

Congratulations!
