Solution to Europe demographic problem in families, not migration, says state secretary
The human resources ministry’s state secretary emphasised the importance of the family in Europe’s future during the 13th World Congress of Families that began in Verona on Friday.
“Migration is seen as a solution to demographic problem by several European nations, but Europe is committing a suicide if it gives up the policy of preserving its culture and supporting families raising children,” Katalin Novák told a panel meeting.
Novák is scheduled to give an outline of the Hungarian government’s family support measures and achievements at the closing session on Saturday.
The session will be attended by Matteo Salvini, Italy’s deputy prime minister and interior minister, with whom Novák will hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the congress.
Addressing a press conference, Novák said Hungary and Italy were allies in protecting Europe’s borders, in preserving Christian culture and in their policies giving preference to supporting families.
