Budapest (MTI) – Winter time will begin in Hungary on Sunday, October 25, when clocks at 3am are set back an hour.
Power transmission system operator Mavir estimates that switching to summer time saves enough electricity to meet demand for between 30,000 and 40,000 households in Hungary or around 120 GWhs per year.
The company’s calculations show that Hungarian consumers save a total 4-5 billion forints (EUR 12.9-16.1m) in electricity costs annually.
