Slovakia sent Hungarian speaking officers to the Southern border

Fifty police officers have departed from Bratislava on Tuesday sent by Slovakia to help the work of the Hungarian officers at the Slovakian-Hungarian border.

The officers went to Szeged with 17 land rovers and one bus, according to MTI’s information, writes hvg.hu. The errand is for one month. The policemen will work in 12 hour shifts, and every one of them will be in a group with two Hungarian policemen, and one soldier.

The members of the mission were sent-off within the confines of a ceremony, where Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia, and Robert Kalinák, Minister of the Interior were also present.

Robert Fico stated that he’s glad to send soldiers to Hungary, who will help to handle the refugee crises in a rational and effective way, rather than taking part in the meaningless quota system, which Slovakia still opposes.

Fico emphasized that the Visegrad Four – Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland – agreed to send a total of 170 police officers to protect the Southern border of Hungary, which clearly shows that the V4 can still work together.

Half of the soldiers who were sent to Hungary have already done border services, and most of them speaks Hungarian as well.
