Coronavirus – Hungary higher education institutions move classes online
Hungarian higher education institutions on Monday made the transition to online courses due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, an innovation and technology ministry official has said.
Universities and colleges had 11 days to work out the technical aspects of switching entirely to online teaching, state secretary Tamás Schanda told public news channel M1.
“It’s a learning curve for everyone involved, for professors and students alike,”
Schanda said, adding that all those affected by the switch had taken the preparation for the new arrangement seriously.
He said the plans and reports coming in from the various institutions showed that universities and colleges had applied a variety of solutions.
Some professors have chosen to communicate with their students via the student information system while others stream their lectures, the state secretary said.
As we wrote before, Hungary’s schools stay closed from March 16 in view of efforts against the spread of the new coronavirus, PM Orbán said in a video message published on Facebook.
