Secretary: the EU cannot get a grip on the Hungarian child protection law

Secretary Szabolcs Ágostházy added in an interview he gave to portfolio.hu that if the EU remains on the ground of law, they cannot find a grip on the Hungarian child protection law.
He also added that if the EU does not give money, the government can provide advance financing covering the 900 bn HUF (EUR 2.517 bn) needed this year – portfolio.hu said.
Based on MTI, the European Commission has agreed with Hungary on extending the deadline for talks on plans to use the Commission’s Reconstruction and Resilience Facility (RRF) until Sept. 30, Veerle Nuyts, a spokesperson for the EC, said on Thursday.
Nuyts told a press conference in response to a question that the commission had
asked Hungary for the extension of the deadline for talks, and the Hungarian authorities had not objected.
“The European Commission maintains constructive cooperation with Hungary in order for the negoatiators to finalise the evaluation of the plans by the end of September,” she said. EU economy commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said after Monday’s Ecofin meeting that progressive talks would continue on the RRF between the EC and Hungary Nuyts said on Tuesday that the commission had proposed that conclusion of the talks with Hungary
