The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) is re-submitting an amendment proposal to postpone the parliamentary election of Hungary’s president until after the general election in the spring of 2022, the party said on Thursday. Meanwhile, marking the tenth anniversary of Hungary’s Fundamental Law, the government will display the National Awoval, a credo of values preceding the preamble of the Fundamental Law, in its buildings and encourages public institutions to do the same, the Government Information Centre (KTK) said on Wednesday.
DK lawmaker Gyula Molnár told an online press conference the proposal would prolong János Áder’s five-year tenure by a few weeks belong its end on May 10 to give the newly elected parliament an opportunity to vote on the president.
The current date for the presidential election would give “Prime Minister Viktor Orbán the opportunity to
cement a party soldier in the highest public office in the country for five years,
weeks before Hungarians pass judgement on him and his regime at the general election,” Molnár said.
Meanwhile, government, public administration and local government institutions are encouraged to display the Awoval in focal points of public buildings, to honour the Hungarian nation around its national holiday on August 20, KTK said.
“In a Europe plagued with crises, the govenrment sees it as especially important to symbolically strengthen the values that helped Hungary and Hungarians survive through the centuries,”
KTK said.
The two-page National Awoval contains proclamations on the roots and values of the Hungarian state, including “We are proud that our king Saint Stephen built the Hungarian State on solid ground and made our country a part of Christian Europe one thousand years ago. We are proud of our forebears who fought for the survival, freedom and independence of our country. We are proud of the outstanding intellectual achievements of the Hungarian people.”

The DK party wants something and that could only be nefarious in purpose if they want to change the rules about the term of the Presidency. NO THANKS sausage coalition your ideas are not for the benefit of Hungary.
Go away and hopefully after the next election the people will have spoken so loudly that Fidesz and its coalition has 80% of the seats in the Government. Maybe then you will realise your ideas are not wanted by the people.
This is so typical of the Left! The President has a five year term. But all of a sudden the Left decide (with zero discussion or debate with the Hungarian people) this is not right and demand that this is changed.
So let’s imagine if the Sausage coalition does win in 2022 will they accept Fidesz amendment to cut the 4 year term of parliament to a one year term? I think not!
The Left has no standards, no consistency, and their policies are decided by Soros and EU!
